John 8: 25 – 26
““Who are you?’ they asked.
“Just what I have been telling you from the beginning,’ Jesus replied. “I have much to say in judgment of you. But he who sent me is trustworthy, and what I have heard from him I tell the world.'”
If you have ever seen the movie, “Princess Bride,” you probably remember the part where the Spaniard Inigo Montoya is fencing with The Man in Black. At one point Inigo asks him, “Who are you?” The Man in Black defers and refuses to answer. Inigo asks again, “No really, I must know!”
In this scene we see the Jews asking Jesus the same question: “Who are you?” They have seen the signs, they have talked with him many times, they know he speaks as if he came from God, but they still refuse to accept Jesus as the Messiah.
