A few days ago we took a look at Joseph and his adoption of Jesus as his son. Before that could happen, he had to be convinced that going against tradition and his better judgment was a good idea. After a visitation by an angel, he was convinced. About seven centuries before the birth of Christ God told his people what was to come through the prophet Isaiah:
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
Isaiah 7:14
The idea of God becoming human is something that boggles the mind.
Q: What do you think it would be like for God to become one of his own creations?
That God is willing to become man is mind boggling indeed. I am thankful, but not sure what it is like from His perspective. I think Jesus’ attitude in this is seen in Philippians 2: 5 – 11. I also realize He must really loves us to do such a thing.
I can’t touch this one. How can the pot, having no ability to ever put a single clear or for that matter an unclear thought together, ever hope to understand the Potter??
Our Holy God has reduced His Magnificent Word, His plan for all mankind to a single book written in children’s “see spot run” language, given each believer the Holy Spirit as our teacher and far greater men than me confess they will never reach the perfect state of fully understanding our “Gods Word” in this lifetime, or God ever.
Sit down with a mature Christian like A.W. Tozer and read his writing, Knowledge of the Holy. I am quite content knowing I will never ever fully understand God. He is God, He is and will always remain beyond my understanding.
I have in faith given my heart to God, and I will in faith serve Him for all eternity knowing He is my creator God who gave His Son, His life for my sins so I could be with Him in paradise forever. I know He did this because He loves all mankind, but I really don’t know why, and that’s OK.
Ron,
Nice to hear from you!
Merry Christmas wherever you are!
I hope He was excited to have relationship with the creation He loves.
