And I will put enmity
between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and hers;
he will crush your head,
and you will strike his heel.
Genesis 3: 15
The Perfect Gift
Today’s “Wisdom Wednesday” text is not from the traditional wisdom literature in the Bible. Instead, we are looking at the wisdom of God in action.
Today we celebrate the birth of our Savior. The reason we need a savior is that Adam and Eve could not resist the wiles of Satan. Having sinned, they became spiritually dead, separated from God. At the same time, they were able to see something they had been protected from while they were alive in God. They could now see evil. The tragedy was (and is) that people do not always recognize evil for what it is.
Knowing all this was going to happen, God prepared a remedy for his broken creation. It involved his Son, Jesus, becoming man and allowing his creation to turn against the Creator, killing him. Only then would God, through the resurrected Jesus, be able to claim his Creation back from Satan’s grasp.
The wisdom of God’s plan is amazing to ponder. That He would create beings like us knowing that we could turn against Him is amazing. Then, for God to provide a way to restore the broken relationship is almost beyond comprehension.
Application: Thank God for His wisdom in making such an incredible creation, and ensuring that we who have sinned can be reborn as His children once again.
Food for Thought: In what way was God ”wise” when he committed to sacrifice his Son for the salvation of mankind?
His rescue plan is beyond my understanding. It is truly amazing in the depths of its love and beauty. Good devotional brother. Merry Christmas to you.
Thank you, Rich!
Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.
How is anything that our God does not wise? We can never fully understand anything he does until we are with him.
