I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me.
Summary: Today was one of those days when I ran out of road before I ran out of things to do.
How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? Look on me and answer, Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death, and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes will rejoice when I fall. But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me. (Psalm 13)
This has been an unusual day. Sometimes things pile up. Then they seem to pile on. Today was one of those days. (In fact, today has already turned into tomorrow!)
In spite of a mountain of things that would normally frost my flakes, I have survived. More than that, I, like the psalmist, rejoice in the Lord’s salvation.
I will sing the Lord’s praise for he has been good to me.
Application: Keep our eyes on God.
Food for Thought: How do we find reasons to sing God’s praise when our world seems to be falling apart?
I will pray for you Jeff. We sing because we are only visiting this world for a little bit before we go home to our perfect Father in Heaven.
Well said brother Tim! Well said. 🙂
03-08-2023, How do we find reasons to sing God’s praise when our world seems to be falling apart?
“I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of His power” Ephesians 3:7.
We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. 1 John 5;19
This world is falling apart at an ever increasing rate, it is the way of the world, but we do not need to participate in its decline. We live in God, His strength. We live for our Lord, not this world. The world does it’s thing, we do ours.
These bodies were once eternal, but now are in the process of decay. Just a fact which we ll know. Parts will cease functioning, and pains will develop at different times as old age sets in. It’s simply the way things are, and tells our time is getting shorter on earth, and closer to doing with Jesus. Our bodies become weaker while our spirits become stronger. It’s time to get all our affairs together so our loved ones will not have a mess on their hands when we briefly separate.
We have God in our hearts every moment of everyday which is more than enough reason to sing praises to God, now and as we travel to dwell in His presence forever.
God be with you Brother!
Ron,
Thank you! I love your words, “Our bodies become weaker while our spirits become stronger.” Knowing Jesus has allowed me to discover amazing treasures in the spiritual realm. What you say is spot on!
Thanks T and R2T2 – good thoughts and it is important to encourage our brother.
Praying for you Jeff. I don’t know the details but praying all is working out. Father, please grant Jeff Your peace and comfort in the midst of the chaos. Give him Your wisdom to deal with issues at hand and lead Him through the challenges that he is facing. Bless him with a growing understanding of Your presence in the trial and bring Your clarity. In Jesus’ name. Amen
One reason to sing His praise is because when our world falls apart, He is still there and His world is our future. Psalm 46: 1 – 3; Nahum 1: 7
Great verses, Rich!
(I’ll put a link here.)
I confess to being a slow learner, but even so, Jesus has been faithful to stick with me and continue teaching me. Things that would have brought me to my knees years ago are only slight annoyances now.
Jeff, the thoughts and questions the Spirit lays on your heart always facilitate the Spirit leading my heart to places that I greatly appreciate. My faith and understanding are bolstered through your willingness to be led and to share.
How do we find reasons to sing God’s praise when our world seems to be falling apart?
You ask me this today of all days, when something I did four years ago is coming back for me to face (my chickens are coming home to roost). I am wavering between the truth and intrusive thoughts of denial, blaming, and diversion. I asked God to reveal to me my past, and He is reviling it to me. I don’t feel like rejoicing. I feel fear.
I am reminded of this verse:
Romans 8:28 All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose:
It doesn’t mean that we have it easy. It means that if we continue to look to the Lord, and follow His Will, the final outcome will be good according to His Will.
Whatever happens, if we seek His Will, God will turn it around to His glory.
That is something to rejoice about!
Brother Chris,
I hope that the chickens coming your way are transformed by the power of the Living God from Chickens of Doom to Chickens that Groom – groom you (and me) into being the kind of person God wants us to be.
Romans 8:28 has been my go-to verse since I learned it in college. Throughout my life I have never known it to fail. God is faithful in all things, especially when we have to blindly trust in him. My prayer for you is that whatever chickens are coming your way will by their presence glorify the Lord and at the same time, strengthen and preserve you for the day of redemption and God’s work while you are still here on earth.
