Galatians 6:4a – The Test

Each one should test their own actions.

Summary: The Bible challenges us to look in the mirror and take the log out of our own eye (Matthew 7:3). Paul applies the challenge in a slightly different way and asks us the question, “Who do we think we are?”

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Summary: The “law of Christ” is all-encompassing. Carrying the burdens of others is something Jesus does well, and we should, too.

Summary: Super sports cars and sin don’t have to go together, but sometimes they do. When we find ourselves trying to help others who sin, we might fall into the supercar trap.

Galatians 6:1b – Living by the Spirit

… you who live by the Spirit …

Summary: Paul’s instructions to the Galatians are revealing. He realizes they are not living by the Spirit, so he tells them how to do that. Then he adds a special instruction for those who “live by the Spirit.”

Galatians 5:24 – Choosing Life

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Summary: When God enters, our lives become a battlefield between the Spirit and the flesh. With God’s help, we can choose life in the Spirit and crucify the flesh.
