2 Peter 3:7c — Smoke

… being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

Summary: Understanding the day of judgment is helpful to understanding our relationship with God. He is the creator, we are the created. If we do not function as we were created to, then we cannot be used. Like scrap wood at a construction site, such people end up in the fire.

2 Peter 3:2b Pt VI — My Real Fear

… and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles.

Summary: Loving each other as our Lord has commanded us is a risky proposition. We have to be willing to expose what is in our hearts and deal with what we find there.

They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—for “people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.”

Summary: Nobody is free without Jesus.

They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. 

Summary: God’s nature is such that He is not capable of desiring revenge. Instead, we condemn ourselves if we reject His Son and His Word.

Ephesians 5: 21 — A Marriage Blessing

Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Summary: Weddings are an exciting time. They mark a point in life where everything changes. My prayer for the two people getting married today is that this change opens the door to an abundance of blessings from God.

Summary: Paul’s description of being saved arrives at the concept of justification. Do we need more than we already have? It turns out we do. We need to be justified before God.
