 Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Summary: The devil is always seeking to separate God’s chosen from the flock. He does this by distracting us from the Word and from prayer. Our safety is found only in God.

1 Peter 5:8 (a) — Is the World Insane?

Be alert and of sober mind.

Summary: Peter uses this phrase, ‘’be alert and of sober mind,” three times in his letter. This time he warns us that we are being stalked by the devil.

1 Peter 5:7 (a) — The Anxious Onion

Summary: Life offers us an unlimited supply of anxieties. God offers us an unlimited supply of peace. All we have to do is trust him with our worries and anxiety, and let him do the rest.

1 Peter 4:19 — What To Do

So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.

Summary: There is suffering we have earned and suffering that seems unfair. When we have to suffer for what seems like no reason, Peter says we need to turn to God and do more good.

Summary: Salvation and works are two things that are related but separate. We work to serve our God and in the process we put our own wants and needs aside.

Summary: Peter warns us against the power of fear and the danger of turning our imagination against ourselves. We need to keep our focus on Godly possibilities.
