Galatians 3:13 – “Curse You, Red Baron!”

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”

Summary: Like many things, curses come in different sizes and shapes. There is a difference between people cursing each other and people falling under God’s curse.

Galatians 3:12 – The Physics of Faith

The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, “The person who does these things will live by them.”

Summary: Paul draws a contrast between faith and law, which leads to an unlikely comparison between faith and physics.

Summary: Reliance on the law is a fantasy whispered in our ear by the same serpent who whispered in Eve’s ear in the Garden of Eden.

For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”

Summary: Following the Law is like following God and doing everything he does just like he does it.

Galatians 3:7 – Blood Bond

Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham.

Summary: Paul points us to two things in this passage: one is faith, and the other is Abraham. There is a connection between the two that is as strong as a blood bond.

Galatians 3:6 – When God Says, “Jump!”

So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”

Summary: The whole point of believing in Jesus is so we can be clothed in his righteousness when our time comes to be judged. In this passage, Paul begins talking about what that means.
