Ephesians 5:33 – A Personal Challenge

However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Summary: In this passage Paul makes a statement that is impossible to get around. We either accept it, or we don’t. What we choose to do says more about us and our faith than anything else.

Ephesians 5:23 – The Bride-Price

For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.

Summary: At first glance this passage seems to imbue husbands with authority, but on closer examination we see that the point of Paul’s words is very different. You might say they are humbling.
